    Treatment characteristics

Orthodontics is recommended for those patients (of any age) who need corrective treatment for deformities caused by thumb sucking, bite correction, corrective treatment after an accident, or to get a more aesthetic smile.

    There are different types of orthodontics depending on the pathology to be treated;

Metal braces; suitable for any correction of the bite. This treatment requires between 18 to 36 months.

Sapphire braces; they fulfill the same function as the metallic braces but they are transparent making them more discreet. This treatment requires between 18 to 24 months.

Self-ligating braces; they do not require rubber bands to be fixed.  This treatment requires between 18 to 24 months.

Lingual orthodontics; the braces are placed on the inner side of the teeth.  This treatment requires between 18 to 24 months.

Invisible orthodontics; consists of placing a transparent and removable retainer, similar to the one used for patients with bruxism.  This treatment requires between 6 to 18 months.

After a complete diagnostic study and making a plaster or digital model of your teeth, our dentists will advise which is the most suitable treatment for your case.

The result is an aligned, aesthetically pleasing and functionally improved denture.

As these are long term treatments (some require up to 3 years) it is not necessary for you to be in Spain for more than a few weeks in order to undergo the study, have your braces fitted and attend a check-up appointment.

You may decide to return to Spain every two or three months for check-ups or to have them done in your country.

    Treatment itinerary

    Before treatment

    • Check that you have prepared all the personal documentation (credit card, cash, passport, Identity Card…), medical (reports, prescriptions, images…) and travel (confirmation of accommodation booking, travel tickets…).
    • If you take medication of any kind not related to the surgery, do not forget to take with you the necessary amount for your stay in Spain, as well as the medical prescription that will allow you to travel with it without problems.

    During treatment

    • Once in Spain you will have to make an appointment with your specialist. During this visit, the doctor will open your medical record (for which he will ask you for all your medical documentation), perform a physical examination, carry out radiological tests and provide you with a treatment plan.

    After treatment

    • Once you have your braces, it is very important that you follow the instructions given by the medical team carefully. They will give you hygiene and food guidelines and the times when you should have your teeth checked.
    • Remember that the goal achieved will vary depending on your commitment.
